Classics transcend flawless design; they gain meaning through history, culture and context. Questioning the need for reinvention, this collection appropriates weightless ornamentation through nine woven motifs, each hundreds of years old. The chand booti’s crescent moon, single thread kardhwa weave and Lakshmi’s ashrafi coins find new light as occasion wear, needing no intervention. Instead, it is the wearer who dictates their relevance - one who disregards borders within our country - seamlessly marrying a thewa borla and gulband with a Benarasi sari. Set against Rajasthan’s Jawai River, the diversity of India’s regional aesthetics shine; rich as the soil and eternal as time.
